N-Type

“Dubstep is my home!”

N-Type is a bona fide bass warrior. Armed to the nines with dubplates so heavy they make your heart race and your body shake, this notorious British DJ and pirate radio personality is on a mission to conquer the world with the sheer force of dubstep.

It’s no exaggeration to say that N-Type lives, breathes and dreams dubstep. Infected with the bass bug at the tender age of 14 when he was caught by jungle and UK garage, Surrey-born N-Type never looked back. “I loved the speed and variety of garage music. I was amazed by the way DJs like EZ [Kiss FM] created energy and positive vibes through being creative on the decks.”

As darker sounds began to emerge within garage, N-Type took charge. Dubstep was evolving into its own sound and he began to experiment, finding his niche in perfecting the art of diversity. “So many different styles are coming out of producers. This is the nice thing about dubstep! You can find what you like in it, whether it be energetic dance floor madness, reggae bubblers, deep, haunting half-step rinse outs, intricate melodies, progressive in-your-face techno, chilled smoking vibes, or vocal skankers. But the one thing it all has in common is a massive weighty bassline!”

With a mix rate faster than your average touch typist, N-Type takes great pleasure in testing the physical limitations of what’s possible with two turntables and a mixer. He is the man responsible for the earth-shattering latest instalment in Tempa’s seminal mix series - Dubstep Allstars Vol 5 – in which he crams 35 tracks into an hour of pure dancefloor bassweight.

Add to this his Sunday night show on London’s legendary pirate radio station Rinse FM, his regular appearances at club night FWD>> and his role as label ambassador for the prolific Tempa, and you have one of the most sought-after DJs and part-time comedians in the scene. In 2007 N-Type won Best DJ, Best Radio Show and Best CD in the Dubstepforum Awards.

N-Type sets the benchmark for freakishly tight mixing and heavyweight selection. He is to dubstep what DJ Marky is to drum n bass: an energetic, intuitive DJ with a gift for reading the vibes on the dancefloor. Today, dubstep is the virus and N-Type is highly contagious. Prepare yourself for one of the sickest DJs you will ever witness.

With Support from Strictly138’s P-Vans, Thief and Steppa D bringing upfront selections and NZ heavyweight Dubplates.
