Joint Forces

April 4, 200910:00 pm

Joint Forces are a Dubstep collective made up of Dj/Producers Mysterious D, Chewie and Soul Provider.
Originally started by long-time Drum’n’Bass producer Mysterious D and UK’s Dj Chewie in early 2008, Joint Forces quickly caught the eye of the international Dubstep community with their dancefloor orientated, bass driven, distinctive sounding beats.
With an emphasis placed on the more hyper, party-style side of Dubstep, it wasn’t long before record label offers started to come in. In a matter of months of finishing their first round of tunes, Joint Forces had signed to four different labels from the UK, USA and Germany.
Soon after that came the one like Soul Provider, and Joint Forces as it is now was formed.

In October 2008, Joint Forces released their first two tracks, “Turn Me Up and “Nimbus Daze, on Stupid Fly Records (USA). These remained in the top three downloaded Dubstep tracks on Digi-Tunes for over three weeks!
In late December 2008, Joint Forces released their second round of tracks, with the much awaited “Yes Man and “Joe Grizzly on Abducted Dub Records (USA).
On January 5th 2009, their track “Sasquatch was released on Dub Frequency Recordings (UK).
Joint Forces have also recently signed a deal with German label Dubstep Division Recordings for a 12 release including a track with well known vocalists Daddy Freddy and Don Goliath.

Joint Forces tracks are being played out by heavyweight Dj’s in the Dubstep scene including Babylon System, DZ, TRG, Skrewface and many more as well as getting radio play on stations such as SubFM (UK), RinseFM (UK) and on the highly rated Dubstepers Delight show on SensiFM in Sweden.

Having just finished a round of remixes for some high profile Dubstep artists, as well as a track for NZ Dub-reggae legends Dubwize, (due for vinyl release on Stupid Fly Records) Joint Forces are set to take the Dubstep scene by storm, both here in NZ and overseas.

Seven aka Eddy Woo

April 10, 200910:00 pm

SUBTLE PRESENTS FOR A ONE OFF EXCLUSIVE NZ SHOW…..

SEVEN (UK)

Ed Berry A.K.A. Seven / Eddy Woo

Ed’s musical journey started in the late eighty’s in London U.K. through learning the art of mixing and locking his first DJ set at the ripe old age of 13.

It was shortly after this, a brief encounter with Shimon and Andy C influenced Ed to steer down the production path. Initially in 1995 he released a three track E.P on Dubtronix Records under the guise of DJ Reflex. Throughout the following years Ed built a studio and honed both his production & DJ skills.

In mid 2003 High Lite Recordings released Tsunami setting the ball rolling for a busy release schedule that has spanned the last five years. Alongside High Lite Recordings, Ed, under the moniker Eddy Woo, signed releases to Frequency, Generation X, Liquid V & Bad Company. Furthermore Eddy Woo productions were common place on top shelf DJ mix CD’s, including Andy C’s ‘Nightlife’ and Bad Company’s ‘Bad Taste’ series.

At the beginning of 2007 Ed started his own imprint, Subculture Records to showcase high calibre future thinking Drum & Bass. 2007 also saw Ed expand and develop his production techniques, eventually leaning towards a more down tempo sound.

Under the pseudonym of Seven his productions were let loose onto the Dubstep scene with air play from Mary Anne Hobbs aswell as being on high rotation during many Rinse FM sets. Most importantly his productions became a major component in many a set from DJ’s Ntype & Youngsta, through to Benga & Skream.

To kick of 2009 ‘Siren’, ‘Drop’ and ‘The Darkness’ were released on Tempa and Australia’s Aquatic Lab imprints respectively. With forthcoming material on Shy Fx’s Digital Soundboy, another release on Aquatic Lab, not too mention a covert signing to Chase & Status’s brand new label things are certainly shaping up for one of London’s most sought after producer / DJ talents.

Andy C……. “I don’t know another DJ in the industry who practises as much as Eddy Woo

OPTIMUS GRYME BIO
Over the last 2 years Optimus Gryme (aka Charlie B) has evolved into one of Aotearoa’s
leading Dubstep pioneers. Last year he released NZ’s first solo Dubstep EP as well as
releasing Aotearoa’s first Dubstep 12inch on his own imprint ‘Optimus Gryme Recordings’.

Charlie is now about to release his debut album entitled ‘Eclipse’, which he has spent the
last two years creating. The album showcases 11 original works and features remixes
and collaborations with Billy Fluid, Truth, Organikismness, Fiona Soe Paing and Maraku Rewiti.

Charlie fondly refers to the album as “2 years of heart and soul morphed into 60 minutes
of audio for your listening pleasure”. Charlie wanted to create an album that people of
all musical tastes could enjoy, whether it be relaxing at home on a Sunday afternoon
or rocking it out the dancefloor.

Eclipse is available in stores New Zealand wide, and also on iTunes, Beatport
and all major mp3 websites worldwide.
