September 10, 201010:00 pm

TRUTH (Deep Medi Musik / Aquatic Lab / Disfigured Dubs / Boka )
Truth, undoubtedly New Zealand’s greatest Dubstep export; have been making a huge impact around the world with their heavy bassline riddims. Truth have a style that defies categorization; encompassing an array of melodies, vocals and spacious beats that range from half-step stompers to the deeper profound realms of sound; all with one Common element which underpins every track; a heavy bassline riddim that lays sheer force on any system heavy enough to handle it.
Taking the dubstep world by storm with releases on seminal label Deep Medi Musik, Skreamz Disfigured Dubs plus widely respected labels Boka and Aquatic Lab as well as vinyl out on local powerhouse Optimus Gryme Recordings. It is clear Truth has had a massive impact right from their outset. Now 2010 is set to be the biggest year yet for Truth as they get set to unveil the much anticipated Truth album ‘Puppets’.
The truth is out there. Now go seek.

Headhunter aka Addison Groove

October 21, 201010:00 pm

HEADHUNTER has been carving out a totally unique place in the dubstep / bass / uk / futuristic / whatever -theheckyou -wanttocallit scene with his new project ADDISON GROOVE. Being inspired by the Chicago ‘Juke’ scene, he started dropping some of these 140bpm jacked up trax into his sets, and it was a short gap from there to making his own take on that sound. With bouncing 808 claps and bass, warm pads, and crazy cut up vocals, the tune that blew up first was ‘Footcrab’ . Gaining attention from bass expert Loefah of Digital Mystikz, it finally ended up on wax on Loefah’s awesome Swamp81 imprint. Ridiculously catchy and refreshingly clean, his sound is a great example of how this scene keeps reinventing itself and taking on new forms. Come down and catch one of his blistering sets!
